Lara's Transformation
When I first saw this cover of September's French Vogue, I starred at it for a VERY long time. I tried to identify the model but I just could not recall the name. I began wondering who is this Natalie Portman look alike and why would Carine Roitfeld give her the September cover? Well silly, easily confused ol' me. It was none other than Lara Stone. Ok. We all know Lara. What is she most famous for? Three things 1) Bleached blonde hair 2) Barely there blonde eyebrows and of course, 3) Her gap. But on this cover, none of those things were on display. Darken locks, shapely eyebrows and pursed lips were staring up at me.
Here's Lara one the cover of last month's W magazine. It's the Lara we all know and love:
I will say that I love a good transformation and the Vogue cover looks amazing, but I'll take blonde Lara over brunette Lara any day. Some may disagree with me, but brunette Lara could easily get lost in the sea of dark-haired models.
So I shall leave you with some amazing shots of her:
She can't do that with brown hair!

The Model As Muse
So I finally caught the "The Model As Muse" exhibit on Sunday. It was the last day of the exhibit, so thankfully I made it! It was a fashion journey that guided me throughout the decades, starting from the 1940s and ending at the present day. I learned about models that I never knew existed but I also saw some photographs of models that I currently love. I wish I went a couple of months earlier so I would be able to recommend it to you guys, but since it's over, I'll just post this video. Hopefully you can see how amazing it was based on the 7-minute clip:

It Girl- Jeneil Williams
So there's a new It girl in town. She's Jeneil Williams from Jamaica. You probably noticed her in the new September 2009 Teen Vogue (w/Taylor Momsen on the cover). In her Little Ladies spread, photographerd by Daniel Jackson, she rocks Blair Waldorf inspired threads with two other models:
But you probably also saw Jeneil in the new Benetton campaign photographed by David Sims:
Maybe since Jourdan Dunn will be MIA for a couple of months she'll take her place as one of the 5 well-known black models currently working (isn't it sad that there's only 5).

My Love for Sasha P is Growing
Remember in February when I stopped all the pretending and finally admitted how awesome Sasha Pivovarova was?? Well I finally saw her spread in the July Italian Vogue (w/ the wonderful Milla Jovovich----loved her in Fifth Element) and I must say she's still got it. I'm so used to models "faking the fierce". But with her, it seems extremely natural.
I should expect nothing less from the face of Prada.
