10. Ginnifer Goodwin was cute as a button in this electric blue Vionnet dress. She's adorable!

9. Carmen Diaz wore a red Alexander McQueen that matched the red carpet. That's usually a no-no but this dress was so unique with the cap sleeves and cowbell, I forgave her for the color.

8. Fergie looked amazing in this lilac chiffon Elie Saab dress. I thought her hair could have been better but the color looked great on her tanned skin. Amazing fit.

7. Chace Crawford was so pretty. LOL But honestly when has a Dolce & Gabbanna tux ever looked so good??

6. When Halle Berry walked onto the stage wearing this Kaufman Franco form fitting black dress, everyone in the audience (and probably at home) gasped at how gorgeous she looked. No one has ever made 43 look so good.

5. The lovely Paula Patton showed off her pregnant belly with a belt that cinched just about her baby bump and just like Halle Berry, she donned a beautiful Kaufman Franco dress. The arm on her right that is holding her umbrella is her gorgeous husband, Robin Thicke.

4. Marion Cotillard in Christian Dior was great. I read a lot of reviews and not many people liked that she had her lace slip showing through the slit of the dress, but I thought it added some sexiness. I don't think I've ever seen her look bad.

3. Mo’Nique wore a strapless Reem Acra dress. The color is perfect for her skin-tone and the shape of the dress compliments her full-figure.

2. Emily Blunt looked amazing in this pink tulle & chiffon Dolce & Gabbanna dress. Her makeup was soft and pretty. Her jewelry was subtle but perfect. This was *almost* my favorite outfit on Sunday but someone else just made me saw WOW.

1. And the person who upstaged Emily Blunt was the gorgeous Olivia Wilde who's metallic Gucci just screamed GUUU-CCIII. Loved it! Also, she auctioned off the dress to help the victims of the Haitian earthquake. I absolutely adore her and her dress.

So Paris Fashion Week finished last week and the belle of the ball was undoubtedly, Ms Rihanna.

Last week, after Alexander McQueen's amazing Paris show, The New York Times delved into the subject of "Why We Love the Shoes That Hurt Us". Some said that it showed power and sexuality. But others pointed out the fact that high heels help elongate our legs and body. And I gotta agree with them . I'm only 5' 3"" and let me tell you, my short stubby legs never look as long and lean as it does when I have on heels.

1. Fur
Rachel Zoe will tell you that nothing makes you feel more like a lady than a dead animal fur strung over your shoulders. However, I think faux fur will work just as well. Here we have a cardigan with fur lining. It looks ridiculously warm but still stylish:

My top five best dressed at the Emmys!

1. Mila Kunis blew my mind when I saw her ethereal maroon Monique Lhuiller dress:

2. It was a close call, but January Jones took the runner-up spot in this futuristic Atelier Versace dress. Absolutely perfection:

3. Ginnifer Goodwin looked like a pixie godess in this purple Yves Saint Laurent dress. So adorable!:

4. Sandrah Oh has never ever looked this amazing in her golden Marchesa dress w/ matching rope belt to accentuate her waist. Great job Ms. Oh:

5. Lastly, Blake Likely did what she does best: show her boobs and leggy limbs. Usually I'm not a fan but her long braid pulled the whole look together:

There was one horrible dress at the Emmys and it belonged to the unfunny Sarah Silverman. It was so unflattering and the blue is such a dreadful contrast to her pale skin.

Fashion Week Review: Part Three

Ok guys, let me finish my Fashion Week Review. I have many more collections to spotlight.

Alexander Wang's Spring 2009 collection was definitely one of my favs last year. He does downtown better than anyone. And with this collection the downtown kids will still have much to be happy about. But even above 14th street, there will still be many happy customers:

Anna Sui. Ok I'll admit. I'm just not a fan of hers. I'm not sure why. I think she's ridiculously overrated. Her pieces seems to lack imagination and are very repetitive. BUT, she has proven me wrong this time around. She found obviously inspiration in paisley and the 60s:

Caroline Herrera is a lady. I would say Michael Kors and her have a monopoly on making women look classy and dignified. You guys know what I mean. Well this season Ms Herrera, like Jason Wu, went younger but kept that lady element that she does so well. It was shorts and color galore:

Ports 1961 collection can only be described as clothing that belongs in a dream. Whimsical, beautiful and refreshing.

I know most of you guys watch Rachel Zoe's show on Bravo. The stylist seems to always be freaking out about trying to find ballroom gowns for her clients. Let me just say, RZ, Badgley Mischka has solved ALL your problems. Party dresses, Oscar gowns, and vacation wear...the boys knew exactly what they were doing with this hit collection:

For some reason Rachel Zoe's catchphrases kept popping in my head after I saw Marc Jacob's Marc by Marc Jacob's collection. It went something like this: "OMG! That African print dress is BANANAS! Or how about those heart covered shorts?? I DIED! And if my boyfriend dressed like that, he would Shut It Down."

Ok I'm finished. Sorry about that. But yes. It was that good. It was fun. Hip. Colorful. Sometimes you see a collection and you know that 95% of the pieces fits into your aesthetics...and let me say, Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring 2010 definitely fits into that category. African prints, large bows, color, color and more color. I loved it. Enjoy:

It's obvious that he wanted to focus on the basics. He wanted to make sure he made pieces that everyone would want and need in their closets. Suits, cinch-belted waists, party dresses, leather jackets, and work attire were sprinkled through out the collection. I enjoyed it immensely.

Fashion Week Review: Part One

So a couple of designers have shown in the last three days. Here are some of my favorite looks:

ADAM made that adorable blue romper that Blake Lively wore to a CW event that I loved. Well all his other looks are equally cute. I would easily wear every piece (including the shoes) from his new collection...but I will say there wasn't much innovation. But oh well, I guess he sticks to what he does well (making pretty, breezy, sexy clothing):

BCBG Max Axria decided that all we need in life is a short colorful dress. I must say, I agree:

The last time I mentioned Charlotte Ronson, I discussed her collaboration with JcPenny...Part Deux. Now she's back with her actual line and let me say, it was perfect. In her first JcPenny collection, Ronson was obsessed with the 9os now she's letting the 80s reign free with her Charlotte Ronson collection:

Over at L.A.M.B., Gwen Stefani also kept up with the 80s trend and did the rocker-chic effortlessly:

Monique Lhuiller was one of my favs last year (except for the shoes) but this year she disappointed me. Yes it was just a simple presentation w/ fewer pieces but some of the pieces were lacking and what was the deal with all those straw hats?? I pictured a rich South African socialite partying with these frocks on. But alas, here are some of the outfits that stood out:

"Greed Is Good"

So over the Labor Day weekend I did some movie watching. I finally saw Iron Man and Confessions of a Shopaholic (IM was great...Confessions was so-so but still cute!) But I also watched a movie that I've been dying to see for so long: Wall Street. Great great great movie. The quote "Greed is good" is from the character Gordon Gekko who is an unscrupulous Wall Street honcho. The movie is pretty void of fashionable pieces (Darryl Hannah is in the movie but I did not like her character so I didn't take time to review any of her outfits). But I came across this editorial from Numero Toyko magazine and these girls/outfits would have fit right into the ostentatious 80s set movie:

Filming for the new Sex And The City movie started today! Here is a pic of SJP wearing a beautiful white dress and gold Christian Louboutin's outside an apartment in NYC. I wonder what the storyline will be this time around. I have heard rumors that it might deal with Big's infidelity...hopefully that's not the case.

This Pop magazine editorial (the one with Tavi on the cover) is ART. Simple as that.

It's very easy to be overwhelmed by the originality/uniqueness of each photo. But if you go beyond the turquoise skin and the other oddities, you will notice the beautiful clothing (the Versace turquoise fur coat with the metallic belt is gorgeous). This is hands down my favorite editorial of the year. Bravo POP and Dasha!

I feel sorry for the other young, hip, "fashionable" singers out there. They all can have their good days where their hair looks perfect or their jeans fit nice...but at the end of the day, they still must compete with Rihanna. And the girl can do no wrong. Annie Hall is one of the funniest. movies. ever. Woody Allen's masterpiece starred Diane Keaton, who's movie wardrobe is a direct reason for the popularity of menswear amongst women. Rodarte Love

So I've decided that until Rodarte's Target Collection debuts on December 20th, I will post pics of outfits from some of their collections from past seasons...randomly. Honestly, the thing I love about Rodarte is the fact that whenever you see a celebrity or socialite wear one of their pieces, you instantly recognize the intricate detailed work of a Rodarte original. I respect that the two designer sisters can go beyond the status-quo and make clothes that the average person may not "get" but they are still able to receive world-wide recognition and respect (both Michelle Obama and Reese Witherspoon have worn Rodarte recently. Also, Rodarte won the 2009 CFDA Womenswear Designer of The Year). So here are four looks that I adore from their 2009 Fall Ready-To-Wear collection:

I honestly would love to see a Rodarte piece upclose but I guess the Target collection will have to do. I doubt that the collection will be mind-blowing but I do think we all will be pleasantly surprised. Here's a sneak peak of the collection (from Paper Magazine). I'm not a huge fan of Asher Roth. He's adorable but his music seems kinda of childish to me. BUT this song featuring the amazing Keri Hilson (love her style) is great. The song "She Don't Want A Man" is now my new theme song. Here's the video for it (it takes 6 secs to start):

Here is the new cover of ID magazine. The four hottest black models right now were shot by Emma Summerton for the September Issue. Love it:

Come on now. Isn't this amazing? I-D is the first fashion magazine to put black models on their September issue. I'm so proud of all four of them. It's obvious they have a very long career ahead of them (hopefully Jourdan's pregnancy doesn't affect this). But yup. I will definitely pick this up.
